Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandWow they all look like shooting stars!!! 11 Mar 2009 5:31am Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomGreat long exposure Alun. A lovely clear night too. Pointing the camera north normally gives the best effect and if you can locate the pole star and centre on it, it will remain static in your photo whilst all the other stars spin around it. The polar star can be located using the Great Bear constellation (or the big dipper). 11 Mar 2009 6:32am @Mike: cheers Mike, thanks for that, i will look out for that MrsAmber from West Wickham, United KingdomWhat an interesting shot. Did you happen to caprture Venus directly above (or was it below) the Moon a couple of weeks back? It was a very interesting sight but my feeble camera couldn't do it justice. 11 Mar 2009 10:44am @MrsAmber: we saw it, but no shots, were i live there is to much light Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesVery impressive... I have always wanted to do this - how do you do this? 11 Mar 2009 12:15pm @Fliss: thanks Fliss. put you camera on a tri-pod set it to bulb. on m tern the speed right down slow keep going and its at the end and you will find b. then when you take a shot you can open the shuter as long as you want with a cable release. Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyLooks like the start of the film on the giant screen that was played at the beginning of the Queen concert I went to.First just stars streaking by then more and more, faster and faster, planets, meteorites, comets until the whole Universe started "Rocking" !! 11 Mar 2009 3:08pm Mellofello from Bromley, United KingdomLooks like a meteorite storm. Excellent shot 11 Mar 2009 3:30pm Jeff from Pembroke Dock, Wales., United KingdomI used to do this with my old Practika many moons ago when you were still playing with your Dinky cars..The same cars Rhys will be playing with this weekend.. 11 Mar 2009 4:59pm @Jeff: And you cant get them out of his hands Barry from Kingwood, United StatesHi Alun....Great shot! Cool shot, Alun 11 Mar 2009 8:57pm jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandFantastic shot Alun You have inspired me to try this one night 11 Mar 2009 9:15pm Lesley from Lincoln, United StatesI love this shot, Alun. You've inspired me to give it a try - once the weather warms up!! I'm a bit shocked by P. Miller's comment. I read it several times hoping it was a joke between the two of you, but I'm afraid I might be mistaken. In any event, I appreciate any comments you leave on my blog - long or short. It's kind of you to take the time when life is so hectic. I know I don't always get a chance to comment at length myself. 12 Mar 2009 2:14am @Lesley: Thank you very much Lesley, i appreciate your comment i really do. I was a bit shocked as well.
