dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaThe sun glinting off the beak makes this very special. 14 Sep 2008 6:41am jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandBeautiful. While visiting a bird sanctuary in Aussie I was surprised to see large numbers of chickens running around the place the reason became apparent when we watched the birds of prey being fed. well we've all got to eat I suppose. This is a lovely close up 14 Sep 2008 7:15am @jamesy: Thanks jamesy grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomLovely shot but what exactly is happening Alun? Is he tethered to that lead? 14 Sep 2008 9:58am @grouser: No he is free to fly, that's a pouch on the end of string and is swung around and the bird attacks it. when he catches it he gets fed. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesA gorgeous bird, I love the way you captured it's eyes! Well done, Alun. 14 Sep 2008 10:38am Anthony Lambert from Bielefeld, GermanyA wonderful bird, she´s just caught her "Lure" by the look of it.Great shot. 14 Sep 2008 10:54am Denise from Perry, United StatesHow neat! Catching this in action ( even though I know it is tethered) is so cool! HE appears to be speaking to you while you shot this photo. Is he a young bird? 14 Sep 2008 11:29am @Denise: Its OK he's not tied to anything, he's free to fly away but they are trained not to by food. This bird two days before this spotted some rabbits in the field behind and chased them for the day, thank you for your comment Jeff from Pembroke Dock, United KingdomBeautifull shot Al,a really fast bird ,it will reach about 250mph at the end of its dive...I would'nt want it hitting me. 14 Sep 2008 1:43pm @Jeff: They go some pace, I tried to take him in flight but failed very badly. cheers Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaI love the expression on his little face.
