@Stu: No not just a shower, It started raining on the saterday morning and didn't stop until tuesday, but realy heavy rain, and the week before it had been snowing and the ground was frozen so when it rained it just ran off.
Good grief! I've alway's wanted to live by a river but I think I'm safer living on top of a hill.

that's a little more than 'wet'! i love the 'hairy' windows - it makes it looks as though the house is alive...
It's outstandingly beautiful, although I imagine a huge inconvenience, great shot Alun :) and I totallly agree with Eric above, I've had my best photos from totally unexpected sources !

@Lorraine: Thank you Lorraine. I took this in a hurry because they were about to close tha road, even then other roads were closed so the drive back to were we were staying took twice as long as normal.

Nice composition that shows us not only what happened with the house, but the effect on the surrounding area. The white windows really stick out in the dreary day of weather (along with that white lens ;-) ). But it's amazing the amount of vines that are attached to the house, particularly the dormer windows. And the green that is present given that this February
